Tibetan Wave in Canada

From San Jose, I fly on to Canada, following Sigung Sonny. He has moved his kung fu school and has just opened the new location. Reason enough to support him. So I am in Canada for the first time and get to stay with him and teach with him. One day, I even get to see a bit of Winnipeg. It's a very beautiful city on the Red River. We also train with the whip in the garden, because Kelly, Sonny's wife, is very ambitious and wants to master the whip as well. In the afternoons, we are at the kung fu school. The regular classes are taught by his black belt and Sigung Sonny himself. The spectrum of students is wide, including children and adults, beginners and advanced students, athletic and less fit students. But they all have one thing in common: they have a lot of fun and are very motivated. It's great to see how both students and teachers are equally committed.

The last lesson is devoted to the Tibetan Wave. Now it's my turn. Although I brought several whips with me, there are just enough for everyone. We practice in a large parking lot behind the house until darkness falls, under floodlights. However, we also do a short session indoors to demonstrate what the whip can do at close range in self-defense. Besides Kelly, another student stands out: Samantha. She has also been at the school for a long time. It's very clear that she has been practicing with the whip for some time.

Everyone had a lot of fun with the flying beer coasters, some of which I had brought with me. Almost everyone wanted to try them out, and some were very good at hitting the target. The videos that Sigung Sonny posted on Facebook show this very nicely. During the last training session at the end of my stay, I was able to award two graduations. Kelly and Samantha received the first level. Very well deserved.

During my time with Sigung Sonny, I learned a lot about self-defense, as he also teaches many courses on this topic. His specialty is working with pressure points. This was a very interesting topic, and I learned a lot about it. I want to continue learning about this and then incorporate it into my teaching. Then it was already time to fly home again. I am delighted that we have now established Tibetan Wave in Canada. Trinity will continue this work and allow our system to grow. Back home, it is now time to promote Tibetan Wave in Germany in order to continue fulfilling GM Ron's vision.
